Amanda Burns
Born and raised in Southern California, Amanda moved to New York for school and has lived there ever since. With a BFA in Fine Art from Adelphi University and the bombastic attitude of "I can do that" she has amassed a strange mélange of experiences and skill-sets. Along with the traditional two-dimensional studio arts, she also is versed in ceramics, seamless stone veneer, leather-work, metal-work, prop-making, sewing, as well as vintage costume jewelry restoration and jewelry design.
Motive Power Jewelry is created using elements from deconstructed, cast-off electronics and machines. Industrial components are disinterred and translated to display the ingenuity of Man and the beauty of those forms, illuminating the absurdly large blind-spot Western culture has for obsolescence and waste.
She is currently taking commissions for portraits in charcoal, and custom art alteration services for Magic The Gathering cards and thrift store art.
